Who is Richard Price?
My name is Richard Price. Many people know me as Ray. I started using my middle name a number of years ago because there was another professional musician named Ray Price. Also, the last seven generations of my Grandfathers were named Richard and I wanted to reclaim the name for myself. You can call me what you prefer - I answer to both.
I was born into the "Bardic Tradition" in Great Britain.
In ancient times a Bard was a poet and storyteller who had trained in a Bardic college. In modern times, a Bard is one who sees their creativity as an innate spiritual ability, and who chooses to nurture that ability partly or wholly with Druidism. The Bards are the keepers of tradition and the memory of the tribe - they are the custodians of the sacredness of the Word.
I am a musician, composer, dance leader and storyteller. I also create in many other disciplines such as film, photography and graphics. In whatever creative endeavor that I'm undertaking, I call upon the poetic inspiration of "Awen," which is the Bardic muse. Sometimes it works.
I now make my home in Old Town Tucson, Arizona. I just LOVE the desert.
I am available to perform concerts and storytelling evenings, lead dance events and all manner of ceremonial gatherings. I can work solo, or with a group of musician friends. PLEASE contact me for details and availability via this website.
“O Hear the voice of the Bard, who present, past and future sees. Whose ears have heard the holy word, that walked among the ancient trees.”
— William Blake - First Song of Experience
